FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 23, 2003
THERE IS WIDESPREAD SUPPORT AMONG RESIDENTS FOR BERMUDA'S NEW SEAT BELT LEGISLATION.
Hamilton: Most residents support the newly introduced seat belt legislation, according to results of the Bermuda Omnibus, a survey conducted by Bermuda's Total Marketing & Communications Limited (TMC) and its Canadian affiliate, Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA).
Given the introduction earlier this year of a new law in Bermuda requiring the use of seat belts in motor vehicles, residents were asked whether they support or oppose this new legislation. Results clearly show that there is considerable support among residents for this new legislation, with eight in ten residents expressing strong or general support. Less than two in ten residents oppose the seat belt law. Importantly, support for the law is consistent across the Island.
These results are part of the Bermuda Omnibus, an independent, quarterly survey of Bermuda residents, and are based on a representative sample of 404 Bermuda residents. The survey was conducted between March 14th and 18th, 2003 with the results accurate to within +4.9 percentage points in 95 out of 100 samples.
